- Only the first $65 in a month is exempted from the countable earned income, such as wages. If the amount exceeds it, it is reduced by $0.5 for each exceeding dollar.
- Unearned income such as social security, pension, and interest: only the first $20 is exempted. If the amount exceeds, it is deducted.
Note that if you are a social security beneficiary, you can get a maximum payment of $5,520. It will be received by you only if you have delayed your retirement until 70 years; and if you have taken retirement at the FRA, you can get up to $4,345.
If you have taken early retirement, you can get a monthly payment up to $2,732. And if you are a beneficiary of SSDI, you can get up to $3,627, and the dependent family member can get 50% of the workerโs benefit.
