If you have filed the claim form of the Fotra data breach settlement on time, that is, on or before the deadline of 29 August 2025, you should know that the federal court has approved the settlement. The administrator would start the payment distribution generally after a month or two.ย

What will be your Fortra Data Breach settlement payout?
According to the Fortra data breach settlement, the payout will be distributed from the $20 million fund. However, there are subclasses of members, so you can be a member of one or more subclasses.
Based on the agreement, the class members, except the Brightline subclass member with a valid claim, can receive the payout from the following categories:
- Cash Payment A:
- If you have documented the loss you have faced in dealing with the data incident issue, you can get the reimbursement of up to $5000 from the fund.ย
- The documented loss includes bank fees, cell phone charges, data charges, and others.ย
- Cash Payment B:
- If you do not have the documented loss, you must claim the alternative cash payment (Cash Payment B).
- The estimated payout under Option B is $85 for each claimant based on the estimated number of claimants.ย
- Dark Web Monitoring:ย
- With Cash Payment A or B, you will receive the dark web monitoring if you have filed the CyEx identity claim form.
- The dark web monitoring will be for a year, which involves real-time authentications, high-risk transaction monitoring, dark web scanning, customer support, wallet protection, and others.ย ย ย
If you are a Brightline settlement subclass member, you will only receive the benefit if you do not receive the benefit under Brightline settlement.
What if your contact information is changed?
Though the deadline ended just a few months back, if your contact information has changed, that can affect your payment; you must inform the administrator on time. You can update the change mailing address, email address to the administrator by writing to the mentioned postal address.
The Fortra data breach settlement has come to the last stage with the final approval. If no one appeals against the court decision, the class members can expect the payment in the 2026 initial months.
