Americans whose data or privacy was compromised in the AT&T data breaches should know that the claim deadline, final hearing date, and object deadline are updated due to the courtโ€™s order.  You can find the updated deadlines, settlement eligibility, payout, and claim process here.

The two data breaches were acknowledged by AT&T in March 2024 and July 2024, affecting usersโ€™ privacy and exposing their private information. The lawsuits were filed for the failure to protect the userโ€™s data, and now the settlement has been reached for $177 million. 

If you are affected by Data Breach 1 or 2, or both, you should claim the settlement before 18 December 2025. Class members can receive a maximum settlement payout of up to $7500 if they were affected by both data breaches. 

What are the changed deadlines of the AT&T data breach settlement?

On 03 October 2025, the federal court released an order updating the AT&T data breach claim deadline, opt-out deadline, and others. The class members will have another month from the previous deadline. You can mark the changed deadlines of the AT&T data breach from the following table:

Who can claim the AT&T data breach settlement?

  • You are living in the United States, and your data elements were included in the AT&T data breach incident 1, where your data elements include name, address, billing account, SSN, and others. 
  • You have an AT&T account, or you were an end user whose data was compromised in the data breach incident 2 announced on 12 July 2024.  

Exclusion:

  • AT&T entities, subsidiaries, assigns, successors, officers, heirs, legal representatives, directors, or employees cannot claim the settlement.
  • The judicial staff, the judge, and their family members cannot claim the settlement. 
  • IF you have filed the objection and exclusion form, you will be out of the settlement. 
  • If you have received the claims regarding the data breach you are claiming for, you cannot be a part of the settlement.

What will you receive under the AT&T data breach settlement?

As we mentioned, the settlement fund for the AT&T data breach is $177 million, where the money will be first used for administration expenses, attorney fees & costs, class representatives’ awards, and other expenses before distributing among the claimants. 

According to the settlement agreement, the amount will be based on the data breach that affected your information. The fund for Data breach incident 1 is around $149 million, whereas for data breach incident 2, it is around $28 million. 

You can expect the following AT&T data breach settlement payout based on the class you belong to:

  • Data Breach Incident 1 class members:
  • Documented Loss Payout: You will receive the payout of up to $5000 if you have documented proof of your losses occurring in 2019 or later. 
  • Tier Cash Payment:
  • If you do not have document proof, you will receive a payout based on tier level, where tier 1 is for people whose Social Security Number is included in data elements, whereas Tier 2 is for those whose data elements have other information other than SSN. 
  • The payout of Tier cash payment depends on the tier level you fall into and the pro rata distribution. 
  • Data Breach Incident 2 class members:
  • Documented Loss Payout: If you have proof of loss you face due to the Data breach incident in July 2024 on or after April 2024, you can get a payout of $2500.
  • Tier 3 Payment: If you do not have evidence, you will receive the payment based on Tier 3, where the payout will be equally distributed among the claimants. 
  • Both Data breach:
  • If you are affected by both data breaches, you can document cash payment loss up to $7500, if you have the evidence, or if you have claimed the Tier cash payment, your payment amount is yet to be determined.
