The Google Adwords Clicks class action settlement got final approval from the federal court Northern District of California, San Jose Division, on 29 August 2025. Class members who have filed the claim form before 20 July 2025 can check the expected payment date and other information here.
The lawsuit was against Google for misleading and charging the advertiser for clicks on ads that were not from the designated locations, violating the California Unfair Competition law. Multiple lawsuits were filed against Google, and they have agreed on a settlement on 27 March 2025.
The claim process ended on 20 July 2025, and now that the court has approved the settlement, the claimants are waiting for the payout from the $100 million settlement fund. With the 14-year lawsuit finally concluding, the court has made sure that the parties are compensated enough.
When can you expect the Google AdWords Class Action Settlement payment?
The Google Adwords settlement final hearing was held on 21 August 2025, but final approval was granted on 29 August 2025, after ensuring the fees related to the prepaid cards. As per reports, no appeal has been filed against the court’s order till now, so the payment distribution can begin without any disruption.
The settlement administrator is not reviewing the payment form filed by the class members who were eligible for payment of more than $1. The administration has not released any update on the payment distribution; however, considering the timeline, we can expect it soon.
Generally, the payment distribution may begin in a month or two, and the claimants can expect the payment in 30 to 90 days; hence, you can expect the payout in the initial months of 2026.

How much will you receive under the Google AdWords settlement?
In the Google Adwords settlement, there were two types of claims – Location targeting class and Search bundled clicks class, so the payment amount depends on the class you have claimed and other conditions.
From the $100 million settlement fund, people whose minimal payment is more than $1 will receive payment. The payment amount is not estimated for class members; however, based on the class, the payment will be determined in the following ways:
- Location targeting class:
- The payment will be based on the clicks from the mis-targeted, where the administration will calculate the damages by adding the total cost of the clicks.
- Search Bundled Clicks:
- The Search Bundled Clicks class payout will depend on the identified clicks that were charged under the smart pricing formula.
- The damage under his class will be calculated based on the following formula:
- Click cost – (click cost/1.06 *1) = Damages
The fund will also be used for the administration expenses, litigation costs, attorney costs & fees, and service awards for the class representatives. The class members will receive payment as per the Customer ID or account number, total damage percentage, and estimated damages.
What are the inactivity service fees on the prepaid digital payment cards?
If you selected the prepaid digital payments under the Google AdWords settlement from all the other options, then you must be aware of the inactivity service fees related to it, such as:
- If you have the balance in the virtual prepaid card after 12 months of payment issuance, it will be subject to inactivity service fees of $0.95 for each month after a year.
- You can avoid these fees by using the card at least once a year or transferring the deposit to another account through ACH transfer, Zelle, or Venmo with no fee.
- If you ask for the physical card, you will be charged a fee of $3, and if it’s lost or you wish to replace it, it will cost you around $6.95.
- If you use the card for a foreign transaction, you will have to pay a fee of 2% on the transaction.
When you receive your payment through a prepaid payment card, you receive an email with all the terms and conditions, so ensure that you read the email.
The Google AdWords clicks settlement payment is yet to be released, but the class members who have submitted the payment form may not have to wait longer, as the administrator will soon update on the payment distribution.
